Add nothing

Hegel’s philosophy on reproducing sound is to «Add nothing, or as little as possible». We wanted this to be reflected in the design.

BACKGROUND

Hegel was launched in the 90s as a small company dedicated to curing the problem of harmonic distortion found in existing sound systems, and have since become an important supplier of high end products in the hi-fi market. They export their products to major markets such as Asia and the US and continue to recieve top ratings in international music magazines. Hegel approached Neue to get an updated look and a more commercial identity on its packaging. They wanted to reach a wider audience, with what they call «a neutral sound».

SOLUTION

Hegel’s philosophy on creating or reproducing sound is to «Add nothing, or as little as possible». We wanted this to be reflected in the design, as well as the Nordic origin of the product. With this in mind we combined basic shapes and outlines with a bold color palette and images of unspoiled Nordic nature.
